How Ranked Cigars rankings work

How do I vote on a cigar?

Every cigar has two buttons: Like ("I liked it") and Pass ("Not for me"). You can change your vote at any time. Saving a cigar to Want to Try is not a vote and does not affect rankings.

Do votes on a specific size count?

Yes. Many lines come in several sizes. You can vote on the exact size you smoked, or on the whole line. A line's totals add up the votes on the line and on all of its sizes.

How does Most Popular work?

Most Popular puts lines with verified catalog details first, then orders them by total number of votes, Like and Pass together. Ties are broken alphabetically by brand and line.

How does Top rated work?

Top rated orders lines by the share of their votes that are Likes. A line needs at least 5 votes before it is rated this way. Lines with fewer than 5 votes are listed after the rated ones, ordered by number of votes.

Can anyone see how I voted?

No. Your individual votes are private. Rankings only use combined totals for each cigar. Reviews are separate: they are public and only appear if you choose to write one.

How are similar cigars chosen?

Similar cigars are picked by matching catalog details: the same strength and the same wrapper count most, then the same country, then shared filler tobaccos. Ties go to the more popular line. No outside ratings are used anywhere in Ranked Cigars.

FAQ

What is the difference between Like and Pass?
Like means you liked the cigar. Pass means it was not for you. Both count toward a line's total votes.
Why is a cigar not showing in Top rated order?
A line needs at least 5 votes before it is rated by its share of Likes. Until then it appears after the rated lines.
Does Want to Try affect rankings?
No. Want to Try is a personal list and is never counted as a vote.
Are ratings from other websites included?
No. Rankings use only votes from Ranked Cigars members.
